A gabion box is a structural unit consisting of a wire frame cage filled with rocks.(Gabions are double twisted hexagonal woven galvanized steel wire mesh compartmented baskets with a rectangular box shape ) They are used to build structures such as river walling. This technique commonly uses a set of gabion ‘blocks’ or ‘baskets’ wired together. A rock ‘mattress’ is a relatively thin cage with comparatively large surface area, laid on the grade of the bank or bed. Gabion blocks and mattresses are often used in combination; the blocks provide the vertical gravity walling and the mattresses are placed below the blocks to provide scour protection. However, they may be installed separately, as block walls and mattress systems respectively Gabions are also widely used in weir and storm water drainage structures.

GABION BOX MATERIALS
1) Galvanized steel wire: Excellent low-carbon steel wire, diameter: 2.0mm-4.0mm, tensile strength: no less than 380Mpa. The surface adopts hot galvanization for protection. The depth of the protective galvanized layer (max. 300g/m2) is decided according to customer demands.
2) Zinc-5% aluminum-mixed mishmash alloy steel wire: (also called galfan steel) a new kind of material appearing recently with corrosion resistance 3 times of traditional pure galvanization; diameter: 2.0mm-4.0mm; tensile strength: no less than 380Mpa.
3) Galvanized steel wire with plastic coating: Excellent low-carbon steel with PVC or PE protective coating on the surface which will be weaved into various gabions. This protective coating will greatly increase the protection in high pollution environment. In addition, the options of different colors enable it merge into the surrounding environment.

MASS PRODUCTION PROCEDURE
Weaving of Gabions:
1) Gabions are molded once. Except cover plates, the edge plates, end plates and bottom plates are inseparable. Length/width tolerance (±5%) height tolerance (±5%). The interior part is isolated into independent units by adopting clapboards every other one meter.
2)Gabions adopt assembly mode. The cover plates, the edge plates, end plates and bottom plates are separately assembled into cages wound by spiral steel wire. All the edge wire of the cage adopts thick wire to improve the strength of the gabions.
PACKAGING DETAILS
Gabion Box Wire Mesh is usually packaged in bundles. According to the specific sizes, Gabion Box panels are woven and then will be folded into bundles, fixed with a binding belt, and then loaded into the container. The advantage of doing so is to save container space, so that it achieves the maximum utilization rate. When using, the bundles can be folded, with binding wire to assemble it and stones to fill in it, forming a complete Gabion Box. It is strong and durable, and plays an important role in resisting floods and making dams strong.
APPLICATIONS
The Gabions must be filled with rock ranging between 100 mm and 250 mm. The range in sizes may allow for a variation of 5% oversize and / or 5% undersize rock, provided it is not placed at the exposed surface. In all cases, oversize rock shall not be larger than 300 mm and the undersize rock shall not be smaller than 100 mm. Rocks shall be hard, angular to round, durable and of such quality that they shall not disintegrate on exposure to water or weathering during the life of the structure. Care should be taken when placing the stone to ensure that the Polymer coating on gabions is not damaged. All visible faces should be carefully hand placed for appearance purposes.
